Hulu

Animayhem Factory

For the second year in a row, we were tasked to conceptualize and execute a San Diego ComicCon activation that celebrates Hulu’s Animayhem portfolio of animated shows and their passionate fans, some who have been waiting decades to have personal experiences inside their favorite animated worlds.

The Animayhem Factory, a unifying, expansive, nearly 200 foot long Rube Goldbergian environment of gears, gizmos and conveyors that provided a perpetual sense of motion as fans embarked on their factory tour. Ten shows in the portfolio were represented through unique activation stations where we worked to craft the moments for fans to live in.

Each of ten shows occupied a separate area of the factory replete with physical, digital and physi-digital games, interactions and prizes that captured the essence of each show as well as the spirit of the overarching Animayhem brand.

Key Fan Moments:

  • A celebration of 25 years of The Family Guy cutaway gags where fans could play with props that triggered their favorite “cutaway” gag clips.
  • A moment with Roger the Alien from American Dad, who is begging people to put his extraterrestrial organs back together.
  • A chance for Simpsons fans to taste Lard Lad donuts, just like Homer and for Futurama fans to guzzle slurm as they bow before the Slurm Queen.
  • Or simply the opportunity to dance alongside the Belcher family and see yourself integrated into their cartoon world.

Fans of ten shows cross-pollinated, played together, shared together and basked in the hilarity and chaos they could only find in the Anamayhem factory. Voted by fans as the best offsite of SDCC 2024!
